Welcome to the McNeil Family Story Blog

Hello, everyone. Thank-you for visiting my short story page! I will provide a little background on this piece. I have a daughter with pediatric Bipolar Disorder. There have been a few times when she needed inpatient mental health treatment. I wrote this story to help her younger brother understand her illness and why she sometimes needs extra care. 

Several people who read the story have encouraged me to make this into a children’s book for publication.  That is my goal! The book would provide some revenue for my family. But more importantly, I hope the book could help other kids and their families. 

Now seems like a good time to try to work on getting the book published and to perhaps promote my other short books on Amazon. I have SLE and dysautonomia and have been in the hospital a lot which puts stress as well as financial strain on my family. 

My children have an amazing step dad but he is from Europe and is on government miliatary contract there and cannot move to the US with us for another year. He also has financial and stressful struggles due to the loss of his son (our dear Stephen) who lost his battle from long-term health struggles in January.  

So I hope my writing can help other families because we know what it is to struggle.
